I am a 4th year student at the Rochester Institute of Technology in (coincidentally enough) Rochester NY. Until July 2008 I worked for a mid-sized market research firm here in Rochester as a Network Administrator, while taking evening classes. It was a lot of fun and I got to work with cutting-edge technology so I was able to keep my skills up to date. Of particular interest to me was my work with VMWare. I was one of two people at the company who was completely in charge of designing, implementing and maintaining the entire virtual infrastructure, which was a blast.
However, the time came when I decided that I really needed to devote all of my time to my studies, so I took a huge leap of faith and went back to school at the Rochester Institute of Technology for a degree in Information Security and Forensics. So far the classes are absolutely awesome. I’m finally at the stage where all the pre-requisites have been taken and now I can take the fun classes like Routing and Switching, Malware, (both past classes) Cryptography and Network Forensics.
That takes up most of my time right now, though I will be graduating in Spring so we’ll see what life brings at that point.
